NEVER
LOST…
RWA Livery is the typeface of Roanoke Wanderers Sporting Club. This font grew out of the club’s marks and the lettering on the trains Roanoke used to build.
Impetus
RWA Livery started as the Leaner, an R and a W set into stripes like the lettering on the side of a locomotive. The rest of the alphabet is built the same way.
Every letter sits on the same three rails as the Leaner. Make it heavier and the letters thicken without getting taller. Round it off and every corner in the alphabet softens at once.
Built on the rails
Every letter is built on three rails, the same ones the Leaner runs on, so tops, middles and bottoms always line up.
All Around
One setting rounds every corner in the alphabet, from sharp to soft. The insides round with them, so strokes keep an even thickness.
Cut at zero
With square corners, B, D, 3 and 5 are easy to mistake for other characters, so at zero roundness they switch to a version with cut corners. Tap to compare.
Our Three axes
Weight
Weights range from 400 to 900. The letters get heavier but never taller. The club’s wordmark uses 700.
Roundness
Roundnesses range from 0 to 100. Square at 0 and softer from there. The club’s wordmark uses 75.
Slant
Slants range from 0 to −25°. The type stands upright by default. The standard slant is −15°.
Our Leaner
Lean with it
The RWA Livery font system was built out of the Leaner, one of the club’s three marks. We worked backwards from this rhombus to the versatile variable system you see today.
Our Family
35 styles and everything in between
Seven weights and five roundnesses. It’s a variable font, so every setting in between works too.
